Sudden 10x Price Increase After Adding Storage
I deployed a VM at $0.01/hr for 200GB storage. After simply adding +100GB storage, the hourly cost unexpectedly jumped to $0.10/hr — a 10x increase.
The main issues here:
There was no warning or visibility about this drastic change before applying it.
The hardware itself didn’t change — only storage was added.
Effectively, customers can get locked into paying 10x more without realizing it.
This feels extremely unfair, and it makes the platform unpredictable to use for long-term projects.
What I’d like to see:
Price locks at deployment so changes by the host provider don’t retroactively apply unless we redeploy.
Clear warnings in the dashboard if a change (like adding storage) will trigger a new pricing structure.
Ideally, an option to roll back to the original rate when this happens.
I don’t mind reasonable increases, but a 10x jump without notice feels more like a trap than a service. Transparency here would make a huge difference.
